Role Summary/Purpose: Work with Biacore Sales Specialist and Account Manager's team to drive Biacore sales by providing customers with pre-sales and post-sales application support.
Essential Responsibilities:

Working closely with a Team of Account Managers and a dedicated Biacore Sales Specialist, this position is responsible for driving the sales and profit of Biacore instrumentation and the associated consumables. The focus is on increasing revenue by generating sales from new and existing customers through a number of pre- and post-sales activities, including product demonstrations, application support, seminars and new application development. The product range is GE’s market-leading Biacore systems and consumables, for studying protein interactions.

The application specialist requires detailed technical knowledge of protein interaction analysis. Candidates should have strong technical knowledge of Surface Plasmon Resonance and protein interactions. Extensive hands-on experience with Biacore T200 and/or Biacore X100 systems is highly desirable. Additional training will be provided from experts within GE.

The application specialist role is also to position GE Life Sciences within the customer base as the provider of a complete workflow solution focused on protein purification, detection, imaging and characterization through to cellular analysis.

A key business objective derived from this operating structure will be to drive and identify valid sales leads for the wider team in relation to the protein workflow. The role will require the individual to communicate effectively within a matrix sales environment, contributing to exceptional teamwork to ensure that the maximum synergy is achieved.


  • Product Demonstrations and Customer Support – Coordinate and execute successful product demonstrations, internal and external training, seminars, workshops and promotional activities
  • Targets – Working with sales specialist, meet/exceed sales targets through driving the sales of the defined instrumentation and associated product range which in this role will be the Biacore systems and consumables
  • Business Strategy - Develop a strategic territory plan for the defined product range to grow the Biacore business and differentiate from competition
  • Business/Markets – Drive and initiate development of new business opportunities working with Account Managers and Sales Specialists to obtain maximum synergy across the business focused on the entire protein sciences workflow
  • Forecasting – Working with sales specialist, provide input for accurate sales forecasting. Prepare and participate in business reviews to ensure a constant flow of information between the territory/key accounts, and the Company
Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Education - University level degree in a Life Sciences related discipline plus a PhD or equivalent qualification gained working in the Life Science Industry. Previous commercial experience is desirable but not essential
  • Strong background in protein interaction analysis. Extensive experience with Biacore T200 and/or Biacore X100 platforms is highly desirable
  • A proven track-record of achieving and exceeding targets/goals
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment
  • Strong commercial awareness and customer focus
  • Self-starter able to manage time and organize and prioritize workload
  • Willingness to travel extensively within specified geographic region
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including, team working skills and good communication skills
  • Fluency in English
  • Strong written communication skills and high attention to detail
  • Persistence and tenacity
